THE IKSHĀ FOUNDATION

“As a child, I knew I wanted to do something that would make a difference and develop creative ways to solve problems. I always had this urge to start something of my own.My first official step to becoming an entrepreneur was last year when covid started, and menstrual hygiene products were classified as non-essential. This situation resonated with me, and I decided to come up with a solution to solve the accessibility of menstrual products and make them more feasible for the user and the environment. My startup is a revolutionary way of practising menstrual hygiene. It is eco-friendly and is modelled around the employment of rural women. We focus on generating reusable sanitary pads out of scrap fabric from the textile industry and, in doing so, developing local jobs for hundreds of rural employees to manufacture the product.Additionally, I also founded a Non-profit organisation that revolves around fulfilling the UN’s SDGs with our most recent project aimed at distributing food kits And the holistic transformation in the lifestyle of the impoverished during the pandemic! An entrepreneur's journey, though, comes with great freedom and great responsibility and hardship. I faced countless challenges and hurdles while establishing my startup: Padera and working with my team to set up my Foundation: The Ikshā foundation. We spent countless hours designing the perfect product and testing its viability, amongst other things. Though this journey demands a lot, it also is the most rewarding. One of the biggest challenges any successful entrepreneur has to overcome is being criticised and judged for every step you take. But to become an entrepreneur, you have to dare to do what others don't because anything out of the ordinary will get criticism. My most significant achievement is that I could help so many people through my startup. My message to budding entrepreneurs is, You only live once, so make it count.”
