“I can relate my life with this saying of Kalam. I wanted to follow my father’s footsteps, being an engineer, but engineering didn’t choose me and instead I ended up with a degree in Fashion designing from APJ School of Design with an MBA in Marketing. The entrepreneurial desire occurred when I used to read about different designers and their success stories, especially Ritu Kumar who has always been my inspiration. I started my venture from the Land of sweet voices and the city of Joy, Kolkata. When I went shopping for Kantha sarees in an exhibition, I came across beautiful intricate embroideries at a very minimal price. My journey started from here only. I went across streets to malls, villages to towns of Bengal to find about the financial exploitation faced by craftsmen. Later we also added arts like Parsi embroidery and Rabari work from Kutch, Zardosi work from Agra, Bareilly, and Delhi 6, Chanderis and silks from Maheshwar, Pochampally and Banaras, Hand block prints from Jaipur, Kalamkari from Hyderabad. We started out of a passion to build a brand that will not only be based on exploring our native Indian creativity but also work on humanitarians’ ground to provide employment to underprivileged artisans. With this motto, our Journey took the roadmap of a Job Seeker to a Job Provider. From a freelancer to a full-time entrepreneur. From my journey, I realized that you should follow your passion and pursue your dreams. With your consistent effort, you are bound to succeed.”
