Gutrack is an AI-powered innovation that can be used to clear blockages in sewers and to do away with the need for manual scavenging. The fact that manual scavenging continues to be practiced in many states even today, and many manual scavengers lose their lives in the process inspired Jaskaran to come up with the idea of this tool. The Punjab boy says his innovation is a simple and affordable innovation to clear blocked sewages and contribute to saving the lives of manual scavengers. Jaskaran says prototyping was the most difficult and the most exciting part. “I made a remote-controlled prototype and a lot of parts were needed to put it together. There were multiple errors in the beginning, but by the end of the day, the prototype was ready,” he recalls. The youngster expects the idea to be developed into an actual innovation and at the production stage in the next few years. His favourite innovator is Nikola Tesla, who is credited with several inventions, including the Tesla Coil. Going ahead, Jaskaran says his startup would also work for addressing other challenges such as pollution, traffic, hunger, plastic waste, and global warming. When feeling uninspired, the young innovator says he finds inspiration in his surroundings. More children can be encouraged to become innovators by showing them the fun of innovating and the happiness one gets upon building a working prototype, he believes.
