Litu Bankira

Non-pesticidal Management (NPM) products

Litu Bankira is a tribal entrepreneur from the Thakurmunda block in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. She largely manufactures/produces NPM (Non-pesticidal Management) products. She covered six villages within the district regarding marketing and selling her products. She had earned approximately INR 76000, with an investment of INR 22000. She bought a two-wheeler/bike so that she and her husband could visit different villages and collect orders from farmers. She also considered having a fixed shop/establishment with storage space to store her surplus products and expand her business from home. Litu also coordinated with several external suppliers in her neighbourhood for procuring raw materials, along with her husband, who supported her in the procurement process. During this time, Litu was expecting a baby and decided to hire an additional person to assist her with the manufacturing process. Litu had to take a break from her business/enterprise when she became a mother for the third time. She wanted to spend more time with her children. Presently, she is keen on resuming her enterprise building activities and is developing a business plan that will enable her to sell her products throughout the year.
