Jayanti Patika stays with her mother, husband, sister, and son. She was previously working as a field hand and managed to make both ends meet, by growing crops on leased land, alongside wage labour. With support from UN Women's SCE programme she enrolled in classes and passed her class 10th examinations. She has also become a Community Resource Person and has recently become an Agricultural Entrepreneur. She supplies inputs and purchases outputs from other households in the village, thus supporting 150 women farmers. She also operates a vegetable seedlings nursery and supplies to an FPO (Farmer Producer Organization) and has managed to earn INR 15,000 from there. Through her vegetable business, she earns INR 20,000 and from the solar spice processing business INR 10,000. She proudly says that now she does not have to go looking for work outside the area. She encouraged her younger sister to go for training as GDA (General Duty Assistant). After completing her GDA training, her sister started working at the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad. Her husband who was earlier not very supportive of her has now started helping her out.
