Dattatray J Wagh
Laxminarayan Agri-Input Shop
Dattatray started an agri-input shop in Nanded, Maharashtra, a couple of years ago. However, the responsibilities of his farms meant he could not give much time to the farmers visiting his shop. He came up with the idea to set up a tele-calling centre at his shop.A tele-caller equipped with a phone and desktop started contacting his customers and maintaining a database of their crop schedules. Today, Dattatray’s shop has become a hub for agricultural discourse. His customers drop in every once in a while to buy agri-inputs and participate in discussions while getting regular updates on cropping patterns and schedules. This strengthened his relationship with the regulars, but the footfall at his shop has also increased. The tele-caller provides up-to-date information based on the data collected already, and the local farmers now trust Wagh's shop for agri-inputs and the latest agricultural news.Wagh's success is an inspiration to his fellow agri-entrepreneurs (AEs), and his model is being improved upon by his Agri-Entrepreneur Growth Foundation (AEGF) peers to find and analyse concrete data through various digital tools and use it to improve yields.
