Choudhary Seed Store
In the village of Nakkian, Rupnagar district, Choudhary Seed Store provides quality agri-inputs to its customers. But the farmers gathered around the shop are more interested in the owner, Anil Kumar, who offers invaluable farming advice between transactions.Anil graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture from Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College (Anandpur Sahib), but decent jobs were complex. After a series of discussions with Agri-Entrepreneur Growth Foundation (AEGF) mentor Desh Raj, who had already been managing a team of 22 agri-entrepreneurs (AEs) in Rupnagar district, Punjab, Anil joined the agri-entrepreneur training program and learnt about the agricultural sector. At a crossroads, Anil decided to start a venture of his own instead of hunting for jobs again. His qualifications made him eligible for pesticide, seed and fertiliser licences. He opened a store with a small investment and provides a range of agri-inputs and market linkages for his customers, with daily sales averaging ₹20,000-35,000. From being jobless to setting up an enterprise, Anil processes each transaction with a smile.
