“I love being called an entrepreneur. I have something more to look forward to, something more to aspire to.” Being a single mother, I had few options to go out. While staying at home, I decided to turn towards my hobby, stitching, for sustainance. Since I could not afford a sewing machine of my own, I was forced to go to customers’ homes. I offered them 50% off from the standard rates, did door to door deliveries, walked distances, stayed up all night to reach where I am now. After saving up for a year, I could finally buy a sewing machine worth ₹ 3000. I now have a small boutique and with some help from Udhyam Vyapaar, have managed to get a loan and buy two more sewing machines. Their support gave me the confidence that someone has my back! Simultaneously, I have also been conducting tailoring classes with 25-30 girls, which augments my income, and helps the girls become self-reliant. I have even moved to a bigger place to accommodate the increasing demand. I also aim at achieving my dream of getting trained as a beautician and opening a salon. Proving perseverance is the key to success!"
