Labhya Foundation

I am a teacher turned Social Entrepreneur and have spent most of my life as a young person teaching in low-income classrooms across India. I was 16, when I entered my first classroom. While I was trying to make my classrooms engaging, I observed that most of my children were going through a lot and a lot was happening to them daily outside the classroom.Over the years, I lost many children to helplessness, inability to cope with problems and poor decisions. But, the world saw them as simply poverty, suicide, and crime statistics. These moving experiences enabled me to find my purpose. So, in 2017, I began Labhya Foundation with a vision to enable vulnerable children to become effective learners and eventually, life-ready.At Labhya we partner with state governments to integrate a daily wellbeing or social-emotional learning (SEL) class into the school day. We have co-created and are ensuring effective implementation of the world’s largest and India’s first at-scale wellbeing programs. Currently, our programs impact 2.4 million children across 23,000 schools. Globally recognised for our work, we are today being supported by multiple organisations like Harvard University, The Commonwealth, UNICEF, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) among other organizations.
